The alternative Bitcoin chain, which emerged from the fork on August 8, has recorded its fifth block, reaching height 961,636. Since the fork, the main Bitcoin network has increased its lead to 1,397 blocks, reaching 963,033 blocks. The new chain, which adopts the BIP-110 proposal, shows minimal activity, supported by the mining group Roughnecks110. Without user consensus and lacking protection against replay attacks, a hard fork is planned for September 2026 that will change the proof-of-work algorithm to BLAKE2b, creating a new cryptocurrency. Additionally, Roughnecks110 conducted a public consultation on the social network X to define the ticker symbol of the new coin, where the option BTC won with 55.8% of the 972 votes.
