'Barotune' Provides AI Interpretation at CMAAO Seoul Conference with Real-Time Subtitles for Technical Terms
AI interpretation solution Barotune (barotune.com) provided real-time English and Korean subtitle interpretation at the '2026 Confederation of Medical Associations in Asia and Oceania (CMAAO) Seoul Conference.' By combining technology that generates subtitles during the speaker's delivery with a feature for pre-registering specialized terminology for each event, it is expanding its application to high-expertise international events.
The conference, held from September 2 to 4 by the Korean Medical Association at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Grand Ballroom in Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by representatives from 11 member countries in the Asia-Oceania region, as well as domestic and international stakeholders.
Instead of a separate interpretation booth, Barotune was utilized to provide the presentation content in English and Korean subtitles. Considering the nature of the event, where medical terminology, institutional names, and personal names appear repeatedly, relevant expressions were pre-registered and reflected in the actual interpretation.
Subtitles generated before the sentence ends... Interpretation aligned with the presentation flow
Barotune is a solution that allows AI to recognize and translate the speaker's voice in real-time and deliver it as subtitles. The key feature is that it does not show the translation results all at once after the sentence is finished, but processes the voice during the delivery to continuously generate subtitles. This design reduces the time lag between the presentation and translation, allowing attendees to follow the content in line with the presentation flow.
In international events, the practicality of interpretation is not determined solely by speed. In fields such as blockchain, AI, healthcare, law, and finance, unique names, abbreviations, and technical terms that are rarely used in everyday conversation appear repeatedly in a short time. Even if the voice is accurately recognized, if the context of the field is not reflected in the translation, the meaning of the statements can change.
Barotune addresses this by pre-registering key specialized terms and proper nouns based on relevant documents such as presentation materials before the event. When those expressions appear in the actual presentation, the pre-prepared terms are reflected in the real-time subtitles. Instead of applying general translation functions, it prepares the interpretation environment according to the theme of the event and the content of the presentation.
This method was also applied at the CMAAO Seoul Conference. By reflecting professional expressions from the medical field in advance and generating subtitles during the delivery, attendees could check the translated content while listening to the presentation.
Expanding applications from blockchain and AI to healthcare
Barotune's main application areas are industries with a high frequency of specialized terminology usage.
In blockchain and cryptocurrency events, project names, protocol names, token tickers, and technical abbreviations are exchanged rapidly. Barotune is used in global blockchain summits and meetups, as well as in AI meetups and developer conferences where model names, frameworks, and development-related terms frequently appear.
In the healthcare sector, the accurate delivery of not only specialized terms but also figures and units is crucial. Barotune has built a track record of use in tumor and pharmaceutical symposiums and multidisciplinary conferences, adding to its application cases in international medical events through this CMAAO Seoul Conference.
Legal, policy, fintech, and finance sectors are also key targets. In international policy forums and regulatory seminars, it is essential to accurately convey the meanings of legal and institutional terms. Financial events also often contain expressions that can vary in interpretation depending on context, such as product names, company names, and various indicators.
Barotune focuses not only on increasing the number of supported languages but also on how quickly and accurately it can convey specialized statements in each field. Its strategy is to respond to industry-specific demands by preparing event-specific terminology in advance and reflecting it in real-time on-site.
The operational method also differs from traditional simultaneous interpretation. Unlike the method that uses interpreters, interpretation booths, and receivers, Barotune can utilize displays installed in the event venue and attendees' personal smartphones. Attendees can access the required language subtitles by connecting to a QR code without needing to install a separate application.
It can also be utilized in events that require support for multiple languages. Instead of adding interpretation personnel and equipment for each language, it provides subtitles in multiple languages simultaneously based on a single voice input.
However, for AI interpretation to be reliably utilized in specialized fields, speed must be accompanied by accuracy. The speaker's intonation and delivery speed, ambient noise, and how consistently specialized terms, proper nouns, and numbers are processed determine the actual quality. Pre-registering specialized terminology is also a means to reduce errors, but it does not guarantee the accuracy of all statements.
The application of this CMAAO Seoul Conference is a case of introducing real-time AI subtitles into international events that have traditionally operated around interpretation booths. Barotune's future competitiveness will depend not only on translation speed but also on how reliably it can maintain interpretation quality in high-expertise environments.
