CFTC Requests Dismissal of CME's Motion on Perpetual Contracts Lawsuit

By: x.com|2026/09/03 00:23:48

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has filed a motion to dismiss CME's motion regarding the lawsuit on perpetual contracts. The motion states that CME lacks standing in this lawsuit, as CME itself can launch perpetual contracts, and therefore the damages it claims are actually self-inflicted. Previously, CME intended to sue the CFTC in opposition to the agency granting approval for Kalshi to offer Bitcoin perpetual contracts.
