The Cabinet of Ministers has changed the terms of remuneration for employees of the State Water Agency and its territorial bodies. The tariff grades for heads of basin management have been increased to the 20th level, and for laboratory heads to levels 14-16. The share of the official salary in the total remuneration is set to increase in order to reduce dependence on additional payments, which can exceed 150%. This change is aimed at reducing staff turnover, especially in water monitoring laboratories, where there has been an outflow of workers due to non-competitive pay. The new salary model is expected to help retain experienced specialists. Plans for management in nine river basin districts for 2025-2030 have also been approved, including 1,681 activities and funding of approximately UAH 348.3 billion. Moreover, the new salary system will not require additional budgetary burdens. In 2026, Ukraine approved a state water monitoring program, which includes monitoring surface waters at 553 points and groundwater at 587 points.
