COLDCARD Restocks Retail Inventory After $100 Million Theft

By: www.tokenpost.kr|2026/09/05 18:06:00

COLDCARD is replenishing its retail inventory with new devices following a theft of over $100 million in Bitcoin (BTC). The company is distributing the new production batch to its retailers, with several stores requesting additional stock. This restocking comes after a security incident involving COLDCARD that occurred about a month ago. Over 5,200 addresses related to COLDCARD wallets were compromised, resulting in the theft of approximately 1,816 BTC, which was valued at around $116 million at the time of the theft. Some reports have raised concerns about the potential for mnemonic phrases to be predicted due to vulnerabilities in COLDCARD's firmware. The extent of the damage caused to COLDCARD varies depending on the assessment time, with some analyses indicating that at least 1,789 BTC were affected. Users should verify the security status of their seed transfers and firmware through official guidance from COLDCARD. Hardware wallets are devices that allow individuals to store their Bitcoin private keys, and this incident has raised issues regarding the trustworthiness of the seed generation process. The restocking indicates that the sale of COLDCARD products has not been interrupted.
