Danantara Boosts Economy 30-Fold Through Technology - Fintech World
Danantara aims for an economic impact of up to 30 times through the integration of technology-based industries, innovation, and downstream processing.
The Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI) targets an economic impact of up to 30 times through the development of technology-based industries and innovation. This strategy will be driven by the Danantara Technology, Innovation, and Investment Forum (DTIIF) 2026, scheduled for October 26-28, 2026.
This global-scale forum aims to bring together 1,500 participants, including innovators, international investors, research institutions, and world technology companies. Some of the companies expected to attend include SpaceX, Boeing, and Airbus.
Danantara's Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Sigit Puji Santosa, stated that the development of technology-based industries and innovation is key to enhancing the national economic value.
"The only way if we want to build an industry in the future that has a significant economic impact is by building technology and innovation-based industries, so this forum is held as an annual agenda to open the roadmap of Danantara's priorities," said Sigit, quoted on October 20, 2026.
According to Sigit, DTIIF is designed as an annual agenda to align corporate investment strategies with government policy directions. The forum is also aimed at building an industrial and investment ecosystem to support the President's economic program.
"Our number one goal is to build a platform while fulfilling Danantara's obligations to develop the industrial ecosystem and investment ecosystem to support the President's economic program," he said.
Sigit explained that Danantara has established five pillars of strategic industries as the foundation for investment. These pillars include energy resilience, food and health resilience, mineral downstream processing, mobility and digital infrastructure, as well as the banking and fintech sectors.
In the development of mineral downstream processing, Danantara encourages the integration of the supply chain from upstream, midstream, to downstream. This approach is considered capable of generating a greater economic impact compared to mere extractive activities or assembly.
"If extractive activities have an impact of only 1.2 to 1.5 and assembly only 1.4 to 1.9, but if we work from upstream, midstream, to downstream, the economic effect is not just 5 or 10, but can leap to 20 to 30 times," said Sigit.
The mobility and digital infrastructure pillar includes artificial intelligence (AI), information technology, transportation, banking, and fintech.
Danantara also highlights defense technology as a strategic sector to bridge innovation with investment. Additionally, Sigit mentioned supporting industries focusing on the agriculture sector.
"The next pillar includes mobility infrastructure starting from digital, artificial intelligence, information technology, to transportation, banking, and fintech, as well as defense technology as the final support to bridge innovation with its investment," Sigit explained.
Managing Director of Strategic Technology Initiatives at Danantara, Ricardo Irwan Rei, stated that DTIIF is targeted to be attended by around 1,500 participants. They include 170 global innovators, over 100 world technology companies, and dozens of research and innovation centers.
The forum is not only intended as a meeting place but is also expected to result in partnerships and investment agreements that can be implemented immediately.
"So this is indeed a very large, prestigious event, but we also do not want it to just be crowded; it must have a positive implication for our industrialization process today," said Irwan.
Sigit emphasized that the success of the forum will be measured by the number of agreements produced. These agreements can take the form of memorandums of understanding, heads of agreement, or contracts that can be immediately realized.
"So, our measure of success is how many deals we execute during this forum," he said.
He added that the evaluation of the forum's results does not stop when the event concludes. Danantara will also monitor the progress of agreements in the one to two months following the event.
DTIIF 2026 is scheduled to feature leaders from global companies in the aerospace, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence sectors. Representatives from SpaceX, Boeing, and Airbus are among the industry figures expected to attend.
Additionally, the forum is planned to present Nobel laureate Peter Howitt and more than 100 CEOs from technology companies worldwide.
"There will be top-tier industrialists and C-level leaders from SpaceX, Boeing, Airbus, biotechnology to artificial intelligence, along with Nobel laureate Peter Howitt and over 100 CEOs of global technology corporations," he stated.
The series of events will last for three days with different agendas. On October 26, activities will include a plenary discussion with technology, innovation, and investment experts, leadership directions, and presentations from state-owned enterprises.
On the second day, the forum will feature parallel sectoral discussion panels in several rooms. Meanwhile, the third day will be filled with a public plenary session. Danantara is also preparing a business matching session so that state-owned enterprises can introduce their superior products and solutions to potential partners.
Managing Director of Global Relations & Communications at Danantara, Pahala Nugraha Mansury, stated that DTIIF serves as a platform to strengthen relationships with global stakeholders, particularly in the fields of technology and innovation.
"Indeed, the focus of the DTIIF event is how we can build trust with the relevant stakeholders, especially in terms of technology and innovation," said Pahala.
According to Pahala, about 70 percent of the forum discussions will focus on technology and innovation, while the remaining 30 percent will be directed towards investment. Danantara is also preparing a second platform called The New Asia Forum, which focuses on efforts to attract capital to the Asian region.
Pahala noted that Asia contributes about 60 percent to global economic growth. However, global investments entering the region are estimated to be only around 25-30 percent.
Through these two platforms, Danantara hopes to strengthen investor confidence, expand international partnerships, and accelerate the development of technology-based industries in Indonesia. DTIIF 2026 is open to the public. Students, innovators, and startups can register as participants.
