EU Implements AI Act, New Rules Now in Effect

By: incrypted.com|2026/08/29 11:56:07

As of August 2, 2026, new transparency and disclosure requirements for chatbots and AI-generated content have come into effect in the EU. The EU AI Act has changed the operations of companies such as Anthropic, Google, Meta, and OpenAI, which have begun labeling AI content. The European AI Authority has been granted the power to demand information from developers and access to models. Users are now notified when interacting with AI. Anthropic has announced that its Claude models will generate text with a watermark, while Google and Meta are working on tools for transparency. OpenAI publishes summaries of the data used to train its models. Rules for high-risk systems in education, biometrics, and migration will come into effect later, in December 2027 and August 2028.
