iPhone 17 Becomes Best-Selling Smartphone in Q2, Capturing 6% of Global Smartphone Shipments
Counterpoint Research's latest data shows that the Apple iPhone 17 was the best-selling smartphone globally in the second quarter of 2026, accounting for 6% of total global smartphone shipments. The iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro ranked second and third, respectively. Apple and Samsung each secured five spots in the top 10 best-selling smartphones worldwide, with the top ten models collectively accounting for 26% of total global smartphone sales, a 2% increase year-on-year. The base model iPhone 17 significantly narrowed the gap with the Pro models through major upgrades, driving sales. Apple's stock closed down 0.14% on Tuesday and fell 0.23% in after-hours trading, with a market capitalization of $4.52 trillion. Two models from Samsung's Galaxy S series made it into the top ten list, with the Galaxy S26 Ultra becoming Samsung's best-selling model this quarter, rising five places, and also being the best-selling Android model of the quarter, marking the first time a high-end Android device led Android sales in the second quarter.
