Korean Financial Regulator Apologizes for the Listing of Single Stock Leveraged ETFs
On October 19, Lee Chan-jin, the head of the Financial Supervisory Service of South Korea, stated during a parliamentary inspection that the launch of single stock leveraged ETFs has affected the volatility of the South Korean stock market to some extent. He expressed deep regret for not being able to actively prevent the listing of such products. A member of the People Power Party pointed out that after the listing of single stock leveraged ETFs, there were several trading days referred to as "black days" in the stock market, and asked Lee Chan-jin whether he believed the listing had an impact on market volatility. Lee Chan-jin confirmed this view and mentioned that Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix also experienced significant volatility.
