Liquid Network released an emergency version, Elements v23.3.4, on September 9, urging all Liquid node operators to update immediately. This version fixes a proof verification cache vulnerability, enhances security, and has undergone multiple rounds of review by teams including Bitcoin Red Team and Alpen Labs. Liquid Network also announced a preliminary recovery plan, which will first resume block production while suspending anchoring operations, followed by re-executing verified transactions. Once the network status is fully restored and funds are returned, anchoring operations will resume. Blockstream is concurrently testing the first two phases, and the specific implementation order may be adjusted based on test results. Additionally, Liquid Network warns users to be cautious of fake update websites set up by scammers, advising them to obtain information only through official channels and to avoid transferring funds or disclosing private keys and recovery phrases to strangers.
