NHN establishes CEO-led unit for blockchain and Web3 initiatives

NHN has designated blockchain as a new business focus and is hiring personnel while reorganizing its structure. This initiative is a group-level response to the anticipated regulatory formalization of won-denominated stablecoins. A new business promotion office was established under CEO Jung Woo-jin earlier this year to oversee new ventures, with a business strategy team managing daily operations. This unit will also conduct a group-wide review of a won stablecoin business. NHN KCP, the group's payments affiliate, is leading stablecoin-related efforts and is expected to play a central role, including plans to obtain a virtual asset service provider (VASP) license within the year.
