OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated at the Internapalooza 2026 event that the future ChatGPT will not only be a chat tool but a comprehensive AI assistant that understands the context of users' work. He envisions that ChatGPT could continuously read the computer screen with user permission, understanding meetings, calls, and connecting texts, emails, documents, and Slack. This AI would proactively identify issues, make suggestions, and even assist users in completing tasks. Altman believes that this fully collaborative AI could be achieved with just one generation of models and expects it to emerge within the next six months, which will fundamentally change the way people work.
