Pencil Finance Completes $1 Million On-Chain Student Loan Cycle, Benefiting 6,600 Students
Pencil Finance has completed its first fully on-chain student loan cycle, deploying $1 million in capital to finance approximately 6,600 students in Southeast Asia. After borrowers repay the funds, the capital providers receive both principal and returns. This financing package will be funded in July 2025 by Animoca Brands, Open Campus, and New Campus, and is divided into senior shares with fixed returns and junior shares that bear floating returns and first-loss risks. The related loans cover 118 schools and universities in Southeast Asia, with about 1,050 students receiving direct funding, 50% of whom are female and 93% come from low-income families.
