Schumer Proposes Establishing Anti-Corruption Agency to Focus on Trump's Crypto Business
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has introduced the "Anti-Corruption Agency Establishment Act," which aims to create a new agency focused on corruption issues within the federal government. This agency would have the authority to investigate, enforce, and prevent corruption in the executive branch, composed of seven bipartisan members confirmed by the Senate, possessing real law enforcement powers, and consolidating the Federal Election Commission, the Office of Government Ethics, and the Office of Special Counsel under one roof. Schumer specifically mentioned Trump in the bill, noting that his disclosed investment income for 2025 exceeds $2 billion, with $1.4 billion related to cryptocurrency, and that his family holds over $1 billion in crypto funds associated with foreign governments. The White House Deputy Press Secretary responded that Trump's investments do not present a conflict of interest. The bill requires Republican support to pass, and Trump could exercise veto power.
