Searches at the Head of the NBU Andriy Pyshny
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office are conducting searches at the head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andriy Pyshny. Journalist Mykhailo Tkach reported on the searches but did not provide additional details. Danylo Hetmantsev, the chairman of the Committee on Financial, Tax, and Customs Policy of the Verkhovna Rada, expects a statement from Pyshny regarding pressure from the NABU. Earlier, Hetmantsev demanded Pyshny's resignation following the NABU and SAP case concerning the state-owned JSC "Sens Bank." On August 19, the government suspended the chairman of the supervisory board of "Sens Bank," Mykola Hladyshenko, for six months and initiated the suspension of the chairman of the board, Oleksiy Stupak. The National Bank opened an administrative case to assess the unsuitability of the supervisory board. As part of Operation "Forest Gump," the NABU is investigating high-level corruption related to control over "Sens Bank." The defendants in the case used the bank to pay bail for Herman Halushchenko, the former Minister of Energy and Justice, who is part of a large-scale operation to expose corruption in the energy sector.
