Tillis had refused to vote in support of Warsh for months, stating that he would not push for the confirmation of any Federal Reserve nominee as long as the Justice Department's criminal investigation into Powell was ongoing, calling the criminal investigation an attack on the independence of the central bank. However, that investigation appears to have concluded last Friday.
