The Entry of Cryptocurrency into the Top 10 Market Assets and Its Impacts
The entry of a cryptocurrency into the list of the top 10 assets based on market value brings it into the spotlight. This ranking does not indicate the attraction of billions of dollars in investment but serves as a measure of relative value. Displaying a digital currency on the front page of exchanges and increasing trading volume can attract the attention of traders. For example, the recent rise of Zcash (ZEC) above one thousand dollars and a market value of 17 billion dollars secured its tenth position. Being among the top 10 cryptocurrencies does not imply that the asset is low-risk, nor does it guarantee criteria such as network security and regulatory risks. Institutional investors require real infrastructures, including exchange-traded funds, deep derivative markets, and secure custody. Additionally, liquidity and order book depth are essential for executing large trades without price slippage. Comparing market value with diluted value is also important, as a project with a small circulating supply can reach the top 10 cryptocurrencies but may decline with the release of tokens. Overall, being among the top 10 cryptocurrencies can lead to increased liquidity and media attention, but it is not a sole reason for sustained growth or immunity from downturns. The sustainability of an asset in this position depends on institutional infrastructures, balance in token releases, and market liquidity depth.
