Toyota Sales Declined by 5.3% in July 2026
Global sales of Toyota Motor Corp. in July 2026 fell by 5.3% compared to the same period last year, totaling 912,683 vehicles. This marks the sixth consecutive month of decline. Global production, including Daihatsu Motor, decreased by 1.4% to 934,953 units. The main reasons for the downturn include pricing pressure in China and instability in the Middle East. In China, sales of Toyota and Lexus dropped by 24% due to rising fuel prices and competition from local electric vehicles like BYD. In the Middle East, sales fell by nearly 45% due to logistical issues and rising raw material costs. In North America, Europe, and Japan, demand remains stable or is growing, thanks to the popularity of hybrid models. Toyota forecasts annual hybrid sales to exceed 5 million units. The company also raised its operating profit forecast for the fiscal year ending in March 2027 to 3.4 trillion yen, driven by sustained demand for hybrids in the U.S. and favorable yen exchange rates.
