US Bank Launches USBDC Stablecoin Pilot on Stellar Between the US and EU

US Bank has launched a live pilot for its USBDC stablecoin on the Stellar network, involving entities in the United States and the European Union. The choice of Stellar is motivated by the need for compliance, asset blocking, and clawback functionality, thus addressing the operational needs of a regulated bank. The head of digital assets at US Bank emphasized that the decision to use Stellar was influenced by the necessity to manage disputed transactions and ensure security. The pilot demonstrates a practical use of the stablecoin but does not necessarily imply an imminent commercial launch. It is important to note that USBDC and Stellar's native token XLM are separate assets, so the use of the stablecoin does not automatically create demand for XLM. This project marks a significant step for Stellar, entering the technological plans of one of the largest banks in the United States.
