This seizure is part of a nationwide effort in the United States to combat drug trafficking activities.

DEA Acting Administrator Robert Murphy stated that they are progressively dismantling these criminal networks. The Sinaloa drug cartel is one of six Mexican "terrorist" drug trafficking organizations as designated by the U.S. government, primarily involved in the distribution of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and other drugs.
