411 BTC Awakened After 13 Years: The Wallet Targeted by the 'Noah Doe' Lawsuit Moves $33 Million

By: journalducoin.com|10/21/2026 03:00:00

Thirteen years of silence, a transfer. On Sunday, October 18, at 8:23 PM, the address 13Coop8xFbYj9JR9WyF5EqzGa9GiZmxs7C sent 411.45 bitcoins to a brand new address. These coins had been dormant since September 2013. Today, they are worth $33.4 million. Moreover, they are among the 39,069 addresses claimed by an anonymous plaintiff known as << Noah Doe >> in New York court, on the grounds that they are abandoned.

An abandoned wallet moving is embarrassing for the thesis. Especially since this wallet is far from being the first on the list to awaken since the filing of the complaint.
Key points of this article:

  • An inactive Bitcoin wallet since 2013 suddenly transferred 411.45 BTC, worth $33.4 million, in a mysterious judicial context.
  • The lawsuit filed by an anonymous plaintiff, nicknamed << Noah Doe >>, highlights the claim of 3.8 million supposedly abandoned bitcoins.

Noah Doe: The Lawsuit Claiming 3.8 Million Abandoned Bitcoins

A reminder of the facts for those who missed the episode. On March 11, 2026, an individual designated as << Noah Doe >> filed with the New York State Supreme Court, accompanied by two Wyoming companies. He requests recognition of ownership of 39,069 Bitcoin addresses. Together, they contain nearly 3.8 million BTC, or about 19% of the circulating supply. His thesis can be summed up in one word: abandonment. The private keys would be lost, thus the funds are without an owner. Therefore, New York law on found property would allow them to be assigned to whoever declares them.

Judge Kathy J. King issued a stay in early June, reports The Block, following the amicus curiae brief from attorney Ian R. Cohen. Then, at the end of June, a << John Doe 33 >> filed a motion to dismiss. To contest, someone had to come forward and admit they held the keys. Hearing on July 14, followed by another hearing on September 8 with the involvement of the Digital Chamber and the Bitcoin Policy Institute. However, no substantive decision has been made to our knowledge. In short, the Noah Doe trial is more in tune with its wallets than with the court. The transaction on October 18 viewed on mempool.space: 411.45 BTC moved to a SegWit address for 337 satoshis in fees, or 27 cents.

Noah Doe: Why This Lawsuit Has Already Entered Crypto Legend

This industry has its scammers and hackers. And then there is Noah Doe, who has stolen nothing nor hacked anything. Yet, he is carving out a place in the pantheon of absurd moments in the sector. Somewhere between Craig Wright, who claimed to be Satoshi, and James Howells, who begs his municipality to return a Welsh landfill to find his hard drive.

Everything begins in the summer of 2025. Thousands of dormant addresses receive tiny transactions carrying a message. An entity calling itself << Salomon Brothers >> announces that it considers these wallets abandoned. It gives their owners 90 days to come forward. No one responds, of course. However, Galaxy Research has reconstructed the funding for the two operations. The result: the same source of money is behind this campaign and behind the complaint filed eight months later. In other words, the silence of the dead has become a case file.

A USB Key Dropped at the Police Station

The case file itself is worth a look. The law invoked is Article 7-B of New York's personal property law. It is a text written for a leather wallet found on a sidewalk. To adhere to the letter of the law, the plaintiffs submitted USB keys containing their address lists to the 17th precinct of Manhattan. Just like dropping off a set of keys found in the subway. Then, an expert estimated each address to be worth less than 10 dollars << in its current state >>, which opens the expedited one-year procedure. The 3.8 million bitcoins targeted are worth a bit more than that.

On the list, there are first 21,923 addresses attributed to the mining of Satoshi Nakamoto, amounting to 1.1 million BTC. There is also an address from the 2011 Mt. Gox hack with its 79,957 BTC. And even a burn address from Counterparty, which is a black hole that no one will ever own the key to. Noah Doe still claims ownership of it.

546 Satoshis to Summon 39,069 Addresses

Defendants also had to be notified. On May 21 and 22, 98 transactions deposited 546 satoshis on each of the 39,069 addresses, with a link to the case documents. Four hundred each. The address that moved on Sunday received its summons on May 22 in block 950,449. It responded five months later, in its own way.

John Doe 33 remains the first defendant to come out of anonymity. In court, he presented himself as << a natural person and a real human being >>. When a procedure has to remind that a string of characters is not a litigant, we know it will remain in the annals.

411 BTC in Motion: Three Readings of the Same Transfer

An Old One Organizing His Bitcoins

The first reading, the simplest. The key holder has regained access, or has always had it, and is tidying up. Indeed, the destination is a brand new native SegWit address, with no known link to an exchange. So no sale in sight. All for 337 satoshis in fees, or 27 cents to move 33 million dollars. Three hours later, an unknown address sent him 1,010 satoshis. Like knocking on a door that has just opened.

Noah Doe's List Leaks Everywhere

The second reading, judicial. Moving funds targeted by a complaint is the clearest way to prove that a wallet is not abandoned, without having to name oneself. However, Noah Doe's list is leaking everywhere. As early as June, a wallet from the Satoshi era with its 35 BTC had awakened. In July, Galaxy already counted 52 addresses from the complaint in motion for 34,335 BTC. By the end of August, 40 million dollars in ten days. Then, in September, four wallets dormant for ten to fourteen years moved 1,971 BTC, or 161 million dollars. For a thesis that relies on the silence of the owners, that makes a lot of noise.

The Market Shrugs Its Shoulders

Third reading, that of the market. Galaxy Research tracks these movements as they fuel sales from the old, from the 80,000 BTC whale of July 2025 to the wallets of the Satoshi generation. Here, no sign of selling. Moreover, 33 million dollars weigh nothing against the 527 million that flowed into spot ETFs on Monday. Ultimately, what the market retains is that dormant bitcoins are not all lost. And that their holders are reading the judicial press.

Noah Doe claims 3.8 million bitcoins on the grounds that no one owns them. However, each outgoing transaction from an address on his list further reduces the pile. Bitcoin was trading at 82,000 dollars on Tuesday evening, and one in six bitcoins has been dormant for over ten years. Since Sunday, this stock has decreased by 411 units.
