Ant International Invests in Hong Kong Money Market Fund with Digital Yuan
Ant International has utilized digital yuan to invest in a Hong Kong money market fund denominated in yuan. On the 16th, Ant International allocated funds to a yuan digital money market fund managed by Huaxia Fund's Hong Kong subsidiary. This transaction has garnered attention as it connects the process of transferring digital yuan from mainland China to investing in offshore yuan financial products. The Huaxia yuan digital money market fund issues and manages fund shares in the form of digital tokens using blockchain technology and has received approval from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). The market views this transaction as a demonstration of the potential for utilizing digital yuan in offshore financial markets. Ant International, a subsidiary of Alibaba Group, is exploring cross-border applications of digital yuan and connecting global sellers and consumers through services like Alipay Plus. In July 2026, it secured approximately $1.2 billion in Series A funding to promote cross-border payments and global business innovation.
