Bloomberg analyst warns BTC 50-week average decline may signal stock and metal downturns
Bloomberg senior analyst Mike McGlone indicated that Bitcoin's 50-week moving average has turned lower, potentially signaling declines in stocks and metals. After surpassing 100000 dollars in 2025, BTC maintained elevated levels for a prolonged period, but the recent downward trend mirrors patterns seen in the 2018 and 2022 bear markets. In contrast, the S&P 500, Bloomberg Metals Index, and copper prices have yet to exhibit similar downtrends. McGlone noted that BTC has historically served as a leading indicator for risk assets since 2009. He emphasized that it remains uncertain whether this decline indicates broader weakness in other assets or is merely a temporary fluctuation. If BTC does not recover, it could lead to sequential declines in other assets. McGlone highlighted that October is crucial, as market turning points frequently occur during this month, and the anticipation of Federal Reserve rate hikes suggests that the uptrend in risk-asset prices and inflation may be concluding.
