RedStone Launches New FIL Price Feed on Filecoin for Apps
RedStone has activated a FIL price feed on the Filecoin mainnet on October 22, 2026. This provides an additional on-chain price source for applications on the Filecoin Virtual Machine (FVM).
Key Points
- RedStone's FIL/USD oracle is live on the Filecoin mainnet.
- The price updates with a variation of 0.5% or at least every four hours.
- Pyth and Tellor oracles were already present on FVM: RedStone joins them.
- No additional partners or usage data have been announced yet.
The debut comes three days after the Solstice update of Filecoin. Developers now have another way to bring the dollar value of FIL into their smart contracts.
How RedStone's FIL Price Feed Works
The FIL/USD feed provides smart contracts running on FVM with the price of FIL expressed in dollars. FVM is the programmable layer that allows building applications on Filecoin, a network known primarily for file storage.
Oracles bring external information, such as asset prices, onto a blockchain that contracts can use. RedStone employs a push mechanism: it writes on-chain updates when certain conditions are met, without waiting for a request from an application.
The first condition is a 0.5% price change in FIL. The feed updates at least once every four hours, even when movements remain below that threshold.
An Additional Alternative Alongside Pyth and Tellor
On FVM, Filecoin's oracle services do not start from scratch: Pyth and Tellor were already supported. RedStone adds a dedicated source for the FIL/USD price, giving developers an additional provider and reducing reliance on a single one.
Each team can choose the feed design that best suits their application or combine multiple data sources. The arrival of RedStone expands these choices but does not introduce oracles to Filecoin for the first time.
RedStone's oracle infrastructure operates across more than 110 chains. Estimates for 2026 place the total value protected by its services between approximately 4 and 9 billion dollars. These figures pertain to all its activities, not just this installation on Filecoin.

Lending and Derivatives: An Additional Price Source
Developers of lending protocols or derivative products on FVM can now rely on an additional feed for the price of FIL. The integration provides these programmable applications with the dollar value of the token.
The launch follows the Solstice update of Filecoin, which went live on October 19, 2026. Solstice changed the distribution of rewards per block: it closed the Fil+ DataCap subsidies and shifted incentives towards the paid use of storage space.
Filecoin is also expanding its programmable capabilities through FVM and initiatives like Filecoin Onchain Cloud. The RedStone feed adds a piece of pricing infrastructure to this application environment.
Integration Status and Adoption Indicators
To understand if the feed will actually be used, three indicators should be considered: integrations in FVM protocols, the value dependent on its data, and the emergence of lending or derivative markets on FIL. These are parameters to measure usage, not proof of adoption that has already occurred.
At the time of the launch announcement, no other partnerships or usage metrics related to the integration between RedStone and Filecoin had been disclosed.
