Stablecoins Cheaper by 84%, Transfer in 2 Minutes
Money transfers powered by stablecoins are 84% cheaper than traditional international transfers, according to an analysis by the Borderless xyz payment network for the third quarter of 2026. A standard transfer of $200 costs $2 when using digital assets, while the traditional transfer averages $12.72. The savings are particularly evident in emerging markets, where traditional fees are high. In Sub-Saharan Africa, the cost of a stablecoin transfer is 2.9%, compared to 8.46% for traditional transfers. In Latin America, these figures are 1.25% and 5.64%, respectively. For business payments, a transfer of $10,000 to the Eurozone costs $26 when using stablecoins, while a traditional bank transfer ranges from $135 to $150. The transaction completion time is also favorable, with a median of two minutes in Brazil and Colombia. Despite infrastructure challenges, the volume of transactions using digital assets is growing, and by 2030, the market capitalization of stablecoins could reach $2 trillion.
