According to Bloomberg, the Hungarian government will abolish criminal penalties for cryptocurrency transactions, revoking the regulations tightened during the tenure of former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Last year, Hungary tightened the rules for cryptocurrency asset exchanges, requiring that cryptocurrency-to-fiat and cryptocurrency-to-cryptocurrency transactions go through an approved verification process; otherwise, related violations could face imprisonment.
