Ukraine to Inspect All Civil Defense Shelters

Relevant ministries, state services, and local authorities have been instructed to inspect all civil defense shelters in Ukraine. The inspections will focus on the technical condition, maintenance, and accessibility for citizens. All shelters are subject to inspection, and responsible individuals have already been notified. Special attention will be given to the accessibility of shelters in the event of ballistic strike threats. Shelters must be open not only during air raid alerts but also when there is a warning of a threat. Authorities emphasize the need for prompt actions to protect people amid the constant threat of missile strikes. In the fifth year of the war, issues with access to shelters are unacceptable. Citizens must be able to enter shelters without hindrance, especially when there is a threat of ballistic missile use. Responsibility for this has been placed on the heads of the shelters. In Kyiv, out of 44 planned anti-radiation shelters for educational institutions for 2024-2026, only three have been put into operation.
