Uniswap Launches Aggregator Hooks for External DEX Liquidity Routing
Uniswap has activated Aggregator Hooks in its web app and API on Ethereum, Base, and Robinhood Chain, enabling its v4 architecture to access external decentralized exchanges. This feature allows traders to utilize both Uniswap's liquidity pools and external prices without needing to choose between them. At launch, seven external sources were integrated, representing over 90% of decentralized-exchange activity across the supported networks. The routing system wraps external sources as v4 hooks, allowing the router to compare quotations and create routes that include both Uniswap and external venues. Swaps using Aggregator Hooks settle in one transaction, minimizing friction for users, though network fees and smart-contract risks remain. This change also allows swaps routed through Aggregator Hooks to contribute to protocol fees that support UNI token burns, enhancing the economic incentive for capturing order flow. Developers can integrate this new routing functionality via the Uniswap API, while users will see external liquidity in eligible swaps. The impact on trading spreads and volumes will be assessed through live trading.
